Ask about my system
01

Repairs & existing systems

Do I need a repair or a full replacement?+

Often, no. Low pressure, dry areas, runoff, or a controller issue can come from a specific component or poor adjustment. A proper diagnostic separates the urgent fix from optional upgrades and helps avoid replacing more than necessary.

Can you improve an older irrigation system?+

Yes. Many systems can be improved through targeted head changes, coverage corrections, valve or wiring repair, updated controls, and better programming. We look at what is worth keeping before recommending a larger change.

Why is one zone not turning on?+

Possible causes include controller programming, wiring, a failed solenoid, a valve issue, or water-supply conditions. Testing the zone systematically is more reliable than replacing visible parts first.

02

Quotes & appointments

What makes an irrigation quote accurate?+

Property layout, water pressure, plant types, zone count, controller condition, access, and the visible and hidden condition of existing components can all affect scope. The guided request helps us begin with the right questions.

Will I understand the recommendation before work begins?+

That is the goal. Hydro Works explains the likely cause, practical options, priorities, and scope before work is scheduled or expanded.

What should I share in the quote request?+

The property city, whether a system already exists, the visible symptom, your priorities, preferred timing, and the best way to reach you are enough to start.

03

Smart controls & water use

Do smart controllers water automatically?+

They can adjust schedules using local conditions and configured landscape information, but the system still needs correct setup, good coverage, and seasonal review. Smart hardware works best when the fundamentals are right.

Can an upgrade reduce water waste?+

It can help when combined with correct nozzles, pressure, head placement, zoning, and programming. A controller alone cannot solve poor coverage or mechanical problems.

Should lawns and planting beds share a zone?+

Usually they have different watering needs. Separating plant types, sun exposure, slope, and soil conditions gives the system better control and can reduce overwatering.

04

Seasonal care

When should a system be checked?+

A spring start-up, an in-season coverage check, and proper winterization create a strong maintenance rhythm. Also request service when you notice soggy areas, dry stripes, heads that do not retract, or unexpected water use.

Why winterize in Middle Tennessee?+

Freezing weather can damage exposed or water-filled components. Proper winterization reduces avoidable freeze risk and creates a cleaner starting point in spring.

Do landscape changes affect irrigation coverage?+

Yes. New beds, mature shrubs, fences, patios, grading, and tree growth can block spray or change what each zone needs. Coverage should be reviewed after meaningful property changes.
